Privacy policy
Last updated 7 August 2026
This privacy policy explains how I Like That Character! (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use ilikethatcharacter.com and related services (the “Service”).
Who we are
The Service is operated for personal / small-project use at ilikethatcharacter.com. For privacy questions, contact us via the site operator email listed in your account settings admin contacts, or the contact method published on the site.
What data we collect
- Account data — email address, display name / username, profile fields you choose to fill in, and authentication identifiers from Google or Twitch when you sign in with those providers.
- Library & preferences — titles and characters you mark, voice-language preferences, recommendation settings, and similar product choices.
- Twitch bot settings — if you enable the chat bot: Twitch channel identifiers, bot settings, and session metadata needed to answer chat commands.
- Technical logs — standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request paths) used for security and debugging, retained for a limited time.
Why we process data (lawful bases)
Where UK GDPR / EU GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract — to create your account and provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and improve features in a privacy-respecting way.
- Consent — where we ask for it (for example optional integrations you explicitly enable).
Third parties
- Auth providers — Google and/or Twitch process login under their own policies when you use OAuth.
- Catalog sources — IGDB, AniList, and Behind The Voice Actors supply public catalog metadata (titles, characters, voice credits, images). We do not sell your personal library data to them.
- Hosting — the site and database run on our hosting provider infrastructure.
Cookies
We use essential cookies/session storage required to keep you signed in and protect account security. See the Cookies page for details.
How long we keep data
We keep account and library data while your account is active. If you delete your account (or request deletion), we remove or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records for security or legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the UK/EEA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details above.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy.
